The Pilates Power System
I was impressed! And if you know about my collection of Mediterranean Diet & exercise materials and all the books and tapes I've built up over the years - you'll appreciate that's saying something! Mike gives you many different Pilates techniques so you can find the ones that suit you.
If you're anything like me, you might not want to go to the trouble of driving to the gym or local exercise classes. Even worse, buying hundreds of dollars of equipment which ends up gathering dust at home, walking in the rain or having to go to overly strenuous aerobic classes where sometimes your personal needs are not catered for. With all that in mind, Pilates won me over straight away. You don't have to spend too much money. You don't have to go outside in the cold or wet. You don't have to strain yourself to ridiculous athletic levels to get good results. In fact, it's quite gentle and enjoyable. It's very low impact. It is often recommended to pregnant mothers in fact.
The site hits you straight away telling you that their are not only instructions but hundreds of diagrams and photos to help you learn Pilates within 3 weeks step by step - and that's taking it easy. I bought it and I am using it. Equally important, I'm having fun doing it. Now my wife is doing it too! Tsk..just can't seem to have anything to myself (chuckle).
On a more serious note, it works well with the Mediterranean Diet in helping you lose weight. One specific factor that stands out with Pilates and Yoga is that both exercises help SCULPT the body. Eventually giving you noticeable curvature and a taught firmness that's appealing to the eye. We all want that!
The Pilates Power System is a comprehensive introduction to feeling rejuvenated and refreshed after each session of Pilates instead of drained and exhausted as with most other exercise methods. I don't think they put enough emphasis on this part but after thinking about it, there are so many other benefits with Pilates that it doesn't matter anyway. If you truly want assistance in LOSING WEIGHT, getting FITTER, improving POSTURE, improving DANCE conditioning, or even as a low impact exercise during PREGNANCY, this seems to have it all.
The 3 things I liked most about this guide are,
1. It's low impact so you don't need to kill yourself to achieve your goals
2. You always fell better after you've finished, not depleted and fatigued.
3. The people who have been doing Pilates for awhile (months not years) just look incredible and seem to truly reflect good health. In fact, celebrities like Madonna, Vanessa Williams and Sharon Stone rave about the benefits of Pilates. The Pilates method seems to be most popular with men and women who are tired of hot, sweaty workouts that seem to bring little or no results. Many former aerobic dance enthusiasts say that Pilates has done much more to help change their appearance than any other program.
